San Jose Convention Center: Call for public art submissions

San Jose Convention Center: Call for public art submissions

News of another exciting artist call have just reached our ears. If you are an artist from the US or hold a US work permit take a look at the San Jose Public Art Program call for submissions. They are seeking an artist or artist team to design, fabricate and install an artwork as part of the renovation and expansion of the San José Convention Center.

Convention Center VisualizationAs a vibrant location the Convention Center draws millions of visitors annually and therefore offers a key opportunity to reflect bold thinking and vision and also reinforce San José’s place as the Capitalof Silicon Valley. The significance and scale of the space as well as its connection to the high-technology and research-oriented business challenges artists to submit work that represents San José's core values such as sustainability, communication and technological innovation. To add another dimension to the program the City will partner with a technology and engineering partner to support the creation of this permanent artwork and effectively turn the Convention Center ‘inside-out’ creating a dialogue between culture, business and community members.

Check out the interesting visualization of the Convention Center redevelopment.

Further information on the artist call is listed on the City of San Jose website

Submission deadline: Tuesday October 4th, 2011
