ZERO1 Fellowship/x

Tapping a new source for disruption and recognizing the inherent innovative power of the artistic process, ZERO1 launched its Fellowship Program in January of 2013.  This first class of Fellows was presented with an individual innovation challenge, formulated by ZERO1 in collaboration with an external sponsor.  They developed a line of creative research before formulating a response to the challenge and building the prototypes on view today - all in continuous conversation with both ZERO1 as well as the sponsor.

Taking place in the ZERO1 Garage this Fall, Patent Pending, is a group exhibition that uses patents as a starting point to investigate the relationship between artists, ownership, and invention. Patent Pending will feature artworks by contemporary artists that have either resulted from, or led to, a patent that the artist has either received a patent for or is patent pending. Each week this summer, we’re handing  over the ZERO1 Garage to innovative artists and community members who are pushing the boundaries of digital culture, using art to address real-world social challenges, and contributing to the community of creativity and innovation that Silicon Valley is known for. Our open call for applications closed June 9th and we received many innovative proposals for workshops, hackathons, performances, talks, and music events for BRING IT! ZERO1 kicks off its 2013 post-biennial program with a solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Michael Joaquin Grey. This presentation of Grey’s work represents the first solo show at the ZERO1 Garage, and begins our exploration of the relationship between artists and invention.

iLOUNGE: instant/interim/interactive is a flexible community gathering-place that supports the occupation of the human body in different ways: lounging, standing, resting, socializing, playing, observing, and being observed.
The modular architectural system was designed to enable temporary community for a minute, an hour, or an evening, and can be configured into different aggregations to support different uses.
